Video speed >1x not working in Ubuntu 13.10

Hello there,

This is my first post after long years of video editing with Openshot. My Ubuntu 11.10 was a bit outdated, so I decided to have a fresh 13.10 installation (same computer).From the standard Ubuntu repositories I installed Openshot 1.4.3, which is the same version I have been running lately on my 11.10. Despite being the same version, when running it in Ubuntu 13.10, I have the following problem:When increasing the playback speed of a video clip (right click on timeline, properties, speed, 4x), it results on a very slow-motion playback instead. This happens both in the rendered video and in the preview window.I tried this on another computer, running Ubuntu 13.10 amd64 (I run i386) and it shows the same sympthom. I even tried on Lubuntu 13.10m but it's always the same problem.What could be causing this? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
